Position: Engineer 3 – UG Mine Planning

Contract type & Duration: Unspecified Time Contract

Department: Technical service

Reporting to: Superintendent 2 – UG Mine Planning

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Long Term Planning (LTP). Develop options for the optimal development of Geita Gold Mine, produce
schedules, production forecasts and budget for the underground mine to meet budget physicals in a
manner consistent with Company’s Vision and Values.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or relevant discipline possession of relevant professional certification or licenses.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 7 years operational experience in an underground mine
  • Experience in mine design and scheduling software (Deswik, Studio UG, EPS Ventsim , Vulcan, mine stope optimizer ( MSO).
  • Broad range of skills spanning resource and reserve estimation, underground mine design, infrastructure specification, mine scheduling, equipment selection, cost estimation, planning, discounted cash flow analysis, budgeting, contractor, and consultant management.

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Contribute towards systems within the Mine planning Section within mining technical service. Department which delivers mine schedules for execution and maximize the value of the underground orebody Under direction of the Planning superintendent, deliver physicals schedule and the underground mine with accuracy commensurate with the confidence of the reserve or resource for
    the full asset life.
  • Aid in building organizational capability within the Mine Technical Services Department to
    successfully deliver the Mining Department budget and Life of Mine Plan.
  • Resource identification and evaluation to optimize development of the Geita Gold mine asset potential.
  • Identify options to enable step changes to the mining process to deliver productivity and/or cost improvements.
  • Authorize and oversee creation of the mine physicals schedule, created by the Planning Engineer II, with accuracy commensurate with the confidence of the reserve or resource for the full asset life.
  • Develop and contribute towards systems for the Mine planning section to provide effective planning.

Position: Tradesperson 1 – Welder

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To perform all tasks safety using correct work methods and safety precautions to the required quality standard, completing tasks on time, and effectively using the resources given for each task.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with VETA Trade Test Certificate Grade 1 in Welding and Fabrication or its equivalent.
Must possess Valid Tanzanian Driving License.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 2 years working experience in similar position in Mining or related industries .

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Be able to adhere to all working practice and procedures in the HME workshop Welding section and GGML at large.
  • Conduct inspection of equipment’s for cracks damages or defects and records findings.
  • Be able to plan work before execution.
  • Repair equipment and report completion of task to Senior supervisor.
  • Do all grinding works.
  • Ensure quality to Oxy/ Acetylene cutting is always adhering.
  • Always maintain good housekeeping standards.
  • Meet work delivery deadlines to minimize the demand for resources without exceeding the required by date for work completion.
  • Observe all safety requirements relevant to the job in hand.
  • Report to supervisor any unsafe equipment immediately.
  • Carry out work as required or directed.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Be physical and mental fit and hard working.
  • Be able to show initiative and coordination skills and be able to interact with the team.
  • Ability to composure under stressful situations and conflicting priorities.
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills in Swahili and English.
  • Demonstrate a good commitment to deriver.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The purpose of the role is to provide support and ensure that the operation of the Geita Gold Mine is not adversely impacted by emergency issues. To be responsible for maintaining emergency response program on Geita Gold Mine site to a standard that is compatible with international practice and undertaken in a timely and cost-effective way.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Certificate in Emergency response or Paramedic issued by accredited authority.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years in Mining operations Open and Underground rescue field.

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Attend all emergencies that may arise on site.
  • Attend, corporate fully to all organized Training with his or her subordinates, Rescues team members, mine employees including contractors on site.
  • Serve as a member of the mine rescue team on site and always show commitment.
  • Participate on fire and evacuation drills for GGM & contractors on site.
  • Conduct ERT equipment inspection and manage safe storage and readiness.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly activity plans.
  • Daily/Weekly/Monthly Inspection of emergency equipment, which include but not limited to Fire extinguishers, hydrants, fire pumps, watercarts, fire panel.
  • Servicing of fire detection system and fire panel on Monthly/Quarterly basis.
  • Servicing of fire extinguishers according to site standards.
  • Inspection of rescues equipment and updates registers on regular basis.
  • Mobilize ERT Volunteers in case of emergency or any requirement upon request.
  • Maintain rescue equipment prior, during and after any use and make sure all arranged and ready for the next use.
  • Comply with site critical controls standards as per requirement.
  • Abide with ERT objectives and targets given by Management.
  • Aerodrome operation compliancy
